How to use this reading
The traditional section is an original summary of A. E. Waite's book for the Rider–Waite–Smith deck. Tarot schools and decks differ; no single universal meaning is claimed here. The upright and reversed readings, example and combination that follow are contemporary Starmora reflection prompts, not a literal translation or knowledge of a future event. Starmora's artwork is also original and need not reproduce every detail of the historical illustrations.
The card's place and themes
Major arcana · rank 13. Themes: completion, transition, space. First identify the question and position through which you are reading this card.
Traditional symbolism: Rider–Waite–Smith
A mounted figure, rose-marked banner and sun at the horizon accompany Waite's themes of transformation and passage. The card's name should not be read as news of an actual death or illness.
Upright reading: a Starmora reflection
An ending can create room for something else. This card does not predict physical death; it invites reflection on a pattern that is completing.
Reversed reading: a Starmora reflection
Accepting an ending can take time. Identify what you will no longer carry without rushing the change.
An everyday example for this card
For an ending habit, record the behaviour you will stop, the part you will miss and what can occupy the available time. Moving to a new pattern does not erase the old experience's value.
A question for your experience
What might letting go make room for?
Reading with The Star
With the Star, consider finding resources after an ending. Death raises what may be relinquished and the Star a small area to nurture; the pairing does not guarantee recovery.
This pairing promises no event or relationship outcome. Its reflection can change with the cards' order and the spread's question; consider it alongside actual conditions and your own judgement.
