Year of the Pig: A Chinese Zodiac Guide

Explore the Pig year's calendar boundary, original symbolic themes and everyday reflection examples. Distinguish a year animal from a full BaZi chart.

Which dates belong to this animal year?

Chinese year animals repeat in a sequence of twelve. Examples of Pig years are 2019, 2031 and 2043, but these labels do not describe full Gregorian years from January 1 to December 31. The animal-year tradition changes at Chinese Lunar New Year. For January or February births, selecting a birth year alone may return the wrong animal. Convert the complete birth date into the Chinese calendar and check an official conversion table, especially early in the year.

Read the symbol as room for reflection

The Pig theme can invite reflection on generosity, ease and life's shareable pleasures. A meal, rest or a modest offering can create connection. The symbol does not promise unlimited resources, naivety or a permanently comfortable life. The quality of enjoyment depends on whether it meets a need as well as on its amount.

Needs and reciprocity in relationships

Generosity can nourish reciprocity, but distinguish an offering from a duty assumed by others. Expecting an unstated return for a gesture can produce later resentment. Discuss what is offered and the boundary around it. Ease in a relationship means a difficult subject can be heard, rather than never raised.

An everyday example

When hosting a gathering, discuss everyone's contribution before accepting all the work. A simple plan can protect both sharing and your own rest. Observe whether offering more actually improves the experience. Enjoying time together does not require the largest table or using the entire budget.

A question to ask yourself

After a recent offering, did you feel connected, exhausted or expectant? Use the observation to set the boundary of a future offer. Generosity can be more sustainable when it remains a choice.

What does a year animal not calculate?

Starmora's tools convert the entered calendar day using the browser's Intl Chinese-calendar support. A guessed animal should not be generated when that support is unavailable. The year-animal tool does not calculate birth time or location. BaZi separately considers year, month, day and hour pillars and solar-term boundaries; this result is not a complete Four Pillars chart. The same animal repeating after twelve years does not imply the same year element. These original reflection examples are neither a personality test nor a relationship-success score. Hong Kong Observatory sources explain the calendar and cycle, not scientific evidence about human behaviour.
