A shared way of working
Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn belong to this modality. In the tropical zodiac, cardinal signs begin at seasonal turning points, fixed signs follow, and mutable signs approach the next turning point. This historical symbolism is often described with northern-hemisphere seasons. Physical seasons reverse in the south, but the zodiacal longitudes do not.
The useful part of the theme
Cardinal modality is read through establishing a beginning, acting on a need and changing a situation's direction. Its four signs express this through different elements: action, care, agreement or tangible structure. Initiation need not be conspicuous. Quietly preparing an arrangement can also be a beginning.
Read it with the element
The four signs in one modality do not produce identical behaviour. Element describes a mode of expression, and modality an approach within the flow of a situation. Body, house and aspect add other layers. A person can initiate, preserve and adapt under different conditions; a distribution need not become a fixed verdict about character.
A small working example
At the start of a project, define the first step, its owner and a review time. Plan the rhythm that will sustain it too. Enthusiasm for initiation does not make every later task yours alone. Connecting the idea to its implementation can become shared work.
Counting and interpretation limits
State which bodies are counted in a modality distribution. Slow outer planets can be similar for many people born in nearby years; personal placements and horizon angles may receive different weights. Angular, succedent and cadent houses are another classification. A body in a cardinal sign is not necessarily in an angular house.
